If you are just starting out with your makeup these 10 drugstore products would make for a great starter kit. The majority of us have probably been wearing makeup for years so for those of you that have this is my top 10 drugstore makeup products. If you haven't tried any of these or some of these products I would definitely recommend them.
For those of you that are truly just starting out, maybe this is your first year back to school wearing makeup, here are some great tips for keeping it simple.
Foundation: This will help create a smooth and even toned face. If you are just starting out with makeup I would suggest going with something on the medium to sheer coverage. Full coverage can look cakey if you haven't mastered your skills on applying makeup.
Concealer: I know when I was a kid/teen just starting out wearing makeup blemishes were definitely something that I wanted to try and hide. Concealer is great for hiding blemishes. To find the right concealer you want to look for something lighter than your actual skin tone. This is were you can also look for something in the thicker consistency for fuller coverage.
Powders/Blushes/Bronzers: These type of products add color and definition. Powder is great for oily faces to keep the shine down. I spent a good majority of my first makeup years just wearing powder and skipping the foundation all together. Bronzer's can be a little trickier to wear so I would actually not recommend starting with a bronzer until you've had time to get the application of all your basics down.
Eyeshadow & Eyeliner: Define your eyes! Eyeshadow is probably the first product that young girls want to test out. I know it is for my daughter and she is only 4, well that and lip products. Ha! Eyeshadow can also be the hardest product to master in applying. I would suggest starting out with neutral colors and only using 1-2 shades in the beginning. You can learn a LOT by checking out eyeshadow tuturials on youtube so if you want to get better practice makes perfect. :) A good eye primer goes a long way as well.
Lips & Mascara: The finishing touches! If you are just starting out and you are attending school daily then you want to keep these two products minimal. I don't think the teachers would appreciate a bright red lip or a falsies style lash. Go with a neutral/nude shade or a light pink and keep the mascara with just a few swipes to brighten your beautiful eyes.

NOTE: The Elf primer and the NYX Slide On aren't actually sold at most drugstores perse but they are in that catagory for a great lower priced option. Color options are going to also depend on your skintone and what you like the best for your overall look.

it's AMAZZZING! Not to mention waaay cheaper (and better) than Dior Lancome, Clinique.. I know I'll nvr spend $20 & up on mascara EVER again!! :D

I don't wear much makeup, but I do love Covergirl's exact eyelights collection. When I do my eyes, those are my go-to products. That Revlon balm stain looks pretty! Does it stay on all day, or do you reapply it like chap stick? I may have to give it a try...

I have never used the ELF towelettes. I'm not much on using facial towels just simply because I feel like it's a waste of money when I can use a reusable/washable washcloth.

Hey, found you from Sugar Bee. You've got a good list. Some of my favorites I've found at either my local WalMart or Target. They are:
ReplyDeletePhysician's Formula Healthy Wear tinted moisturizer with SPF 50. I'm in the son alot during the summer, so this tinted moisturizer is one of the most important things in my cosmetics bag. I wear this as my foundation almost year round now and set it with just a touch of powder. I believe I paid $9.50, and a little goes a long way, so it will last quite a while. Although I'm in my mid-40s, I still break out, and this moisturizer has not aggravated my skin at all. Love it!
Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips Eye Enhancing Gel Creamliners. It's three color pods of gel eyeliner specifically color-coordinated for your eye color. My hazel set has a brown, a pinkish/burgundy and a shimmer black. If you love the staying power of a liquid liner, but need the easy application of a pencil, this gel liner is for you. Even though it does come with a brush, I would suggest you trash it and get a higher-quality liner brush. Plus, I think I paid $9 for it, and it lasts forever. Plus, remember it's $9 for 3 different color pods. DEAL!
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter. I love this stuff! As a former cosmetics consultant, I have tons of expensive lip sticks; however, this lip butter is now my go-to lipstick. The color I wear is sugar plum. This lipstick provides fairly sheer lip color with shine without making you look like you've been gnawing on a greasy pork chop. You know what I mean? The cost is around $7.
Revlon Photoready Color Correcting Perfecting Primer. This is my newest discovery. I use this on my eyes only and my eye color stays put all day without creasing. Since I do still have breakouts, I haven't tried this on my face. But, it does work wonders on my eyes.

I have seen the gel eyeliner pods but never tried them. I usually use eyeliner sticks if I line my eyes and sometimes I don't even bother. I really like the lip butters as well but have recently went to using the balm stains a lot. Revlon has really been knocking it out of the park with the lip products. I have never tried the photoready primer but I may give it a try. I have tried so many primers and usually none of them make a dent in my super dry skin compared to the laura mercier primer. I still have breakouts to and not sure if the primer causes it but I wouldn't be able to wear foundation without it.
