Popsugar 'Must Have' First Ever July Bag

Although I was not sent this bag for free I was sent an email by a Popsugar rep regarding this bag. I didn't even know it was something new they were coming out with to be honest. At first I was like $35 a month, no way, but then when I read that the products were to be worth $150 plus and were going to include fashion, beauty, home decor, fitness, and more then I was actually kind of interested. I don't really need anymore beauty samples or products to try out to be honest but the home decor, fashion, and fitness drug me in.

This is how POPSUGAR describe their new bag.

"Every month, my editorial staff and I will curate an exciting bag full of fun must-have products from fashion, beauty, home decor, fitness, and more. Our customized collection will include tried-and-true classics, celebrity favorites, and brands you've yet to discover. Plus, the more you share this with your family and friends, the more we'll reward you. Think of it as a gift you give yourself — or it makes a perfect present for someone special in your life."

In my bag I received...

1 Ilia lipstick in 'In my room'
1 Ilia lip conditioner in 'Bang Bang'
2 Kind bars
Body Drench Pomegranate Crush lotion
Body Drench Raspberry Gelee scrub
2 RGB nail polishes in Minty & Doll
Popsugar canvas tote "beach bag"

This first July bag from Popsugar is suppose to be the must-have essentials for Summer.

As with my Beauty Army boxes I will review all the products in separate posts later on but I do want to give some opinions about Popsugar's new subscription bag.

I'll start off by saying I don't hate the products. I'm actually pretty excited about trying everything out but there are a few things I'm disappointed in. When I first checked out Popsugar's site and signed up the full size products would be worth over $150, now mysteriously the site has changed the bags to being worth $100.

The value of the products I received did come up to around $100 but I will say again that when I initially purchased this first box it did say over $150 worth. This was a HUGE part of me thinking that $35 was a steal.

I will also say that I'm pretty disappointed to see mainly beauty products in this box. They are full sizes which is great but I was hoping to see a wide variety of products not 2 items from the same companies. I don't need two samples of Body Drench, RGB, Kind, or Ilia to know if I'm going to like their products. I like them, don't get me wrong, but where is the fashion, home decor, and fitness aspects? Please don't give me a Kind bar and call this your fitness part. That isn't going to fly for me. Especially when these types of bars seem more like filler products.

I was also disappointed to find that one of my Ilia products was broken. So overall I'm not to happy with Popsugar's first box. At this point I don't know that I will continue on with this bag. I may give them one more month but $35 is a lot of money when it comes to items that are just so so. I'm a budget shopper most of the time so I could get a lot of stuff for $35 so we'll see.

If you are interested in this bag you can check out POPSUGAR here.

Did you get this bag? Are you thinking about trying it out? What are your thoughts?

Tip Tuesday: Beauty Edition: Eyes

  • Your eye area is one of the most delicate parts of your face, treat it gently, blot never rub.

  • Always use your ring finger to apply concealer or moisturizer. Your ring finger allows you to put the least amount of pressure on that skin.

  • Open up your eyes by applying light eyeshadow in the inner corners of your eyes and just above the lashline.

  • Use brown mascara for a softer day look.

  • Stop eyeliner smudges by applying a matching shade of eyeshadow over the pencil.

  • Reduce eye puffiness by applying cold compresses. 15 seconds on, 15 seconds off.

  • For fuller eyes, focus on finding tapered or football-shaped mascara brushes, which create a feathery topcoat.

What are your fave eye tips?

July Faves // Most Worn Summer Edition

I really haven't gotten anything new over the past month so I don't really have any new faves. Everything that I'm loving has been in previous months faves so because of this I've decided that my July faves are also going to be my faves that I have loved and used most through this Summer.

My most worn nail polish is China Glaze's Lemon Fizz. It is a light yellow. I wore it a lot in Spring and it just went great with Summer as well. I have also been wearing Sinful Color's Bare. It is a pinkish nude color, which I also wore a lot in the Spring time. Neon's were hot for this Summer and although I purchased a few I didn't find myself getting in to them much, maybe that is my older self coming out.

China Glaze Lemon Fizz

My fave lip product this month has been, of course, a Just Bitten balm stain by Revlon. The color is in honey. I think this has probably been the most popular color out of all the stains overall. It really is a nice color and looks great on a lot of skin tones. If you haven't give these stains a try and want to I recommend trying out the honey color.

Just Bitten Balm Stain in Honey (top swatch)

Victoria's Secret Pink fragrance mist is the scent I've been wearing the most. VS describes it as fun, sexy, and playful and I would definitely agree it is a flirty flowery scent. It just smells great. For me it is one of those scents were when you can't figure out what you want to wear this one just works every time, day or night.

Hands down Joico K-pak RevitaLuxe is the best hair care product I've used and loved in a LONG time. I tried the sample through Beauty Army and so far it has been the only thing I've sampled that I've purchased a full size bottle.

I've already said this before but Roxy Tide flip flops are my all time fave. I have tons of cute sandals but I'm pretty sure I wear flip flops 95% of the Summer and those flip flops are almost always going to be Roxy Tide ones. They are so so so comfy.

My fave clothing item that I have worn this Summer is Old Navy's Tami tanks. I love these tanks. I wear them under stuff and just by themselves sometimes. What I like most about these tanks is that they are stretchy and long. I don't feel like I have to pull on them all day. They come in a wide variety of colors and these are just a few I have in the picture above. I probably have like every color available.

Some bracelets I have been wearing a lot this Summer are the pull string type rope/beaded bracelets. This is one area where I have been loving the neon trend.

My most worn Summer face has been these great products.

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
Tarte Maracuja Concealer
Missha BB Cream
Tarte Maracuja Air Blush
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
Cover Fx Eye Primer
Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette
Mally Mascara
Revlon JB Balm Stain

I haven't been starying from this face routine very much at all this Summer. It has been so hot that some days I don't even bother wearing makeup.

Lastly, it's not something I've worn this Summer but it is something that I've used a LOT and that's my Nook Color. I don't know how many books I've read just this Summer alone but it's been alot. I've found so many great new authors.

So that is pretty much my July Faves. The only things that I've really gotten new this month that I love and have been using are my anniversary gifts that I got. My hubby got me my jewelry organizer as part of my anniversary that I showed you a few weeks ago but also gave me a 3 stone diamond ring this past Friday on our actual anniversary. Love it! :)

What are your July faves or Most Worn Summer faves?

10 Years & Counting!

Today my husband and I have been married for 10 years. We have come a long way in 10 years and have went through a lot of stuff that maybe some marriages just don't normally experience, like having to deal with year long deployments.

Despite having gone through some of the hardest things I have ever experienced in these past 10 years we have experienced so many great things as well. The very best, being parents to our wonderful daughter.

We got married at my parents house and even if I could do it all over and change a few things I would still get married at my parents house. It holds a ton of special memories and will always be a place I call home.

Yes, we were youngsters at 19 and 21 when we got married. When you know you know!

To the best husband, father, and best friend in the world! I love you to the moon and back. Happy Anniversary!!

Book Recs: Thoughtless & Effortless

These two books are part of S.C. Stephens Thoughtless Series.

For almost two years now, Kiera’s boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she’s ever wanted: loving, tender and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together, Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university, everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart. Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source—a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he’s purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes…and none of them will ever be the same.

I decided to skip the book description for Effortless so that it doesn't give anything away for those of you that want to read this series. There is also a 3rd book in the works but I'm not sure when it's suppose to be available, hopefully soon.

I have been reading a LOT this Summer and S.C. Stephens was someone new to me but soooo glad I found her books. I love her writing and the books are great. It was a page turner all the way through both books for me. It is definitely a angst sort of book so if that isn't your thing you may not like this story line. I love me a good love story but to be honest I don't want to read a book that is always roses and butterflies. This one gives you that heart pounding when you really want to rip that characters head off but leaves you gushing like a lovesick puppy too. All I can say is if you haven't read it go give it a try.

TWO THUMBS UP!!

Have you read these books? What did you think? Got any other great reads similar to these that you can recommend?

Review: Korres Guava Shower Gel

"Infuse your skin with a taste of the tropics when you shower with Korres Guava Shower Gel. It's a lightweight, fully foaming, and completely cleansing body wash that comfortably rinses away dulling dirt, oil, and debris for a beautiful body."
This will be a quick review as I don't have much information about this product to be honest.

PROS:
foams great
left my skin feeling moisturized

CONS:
Price... It will run you around $13 for 10 ozs. At BBW 10 oz shower gel will run you around $10 but you can always get them at better deals with sales. I usually only pay anywhere from 3.50-$5 a bottle.
Accessibility... I could only find this product on Amazon. I got a sample from Beauty Army and they didn't even offer the full size for sale on their site, which is odd.

The scent is ok but it wasn't a pro or con for me. It's a tropical scent that I didn't hate but didn't love either. Being a mom, showers are some of my only quite times so I want to enjoy a nice shower gel and this isn't one that I would really purchase again.

I rate this shower gel 3 stars. It's just ok.

Christmas In July

It's official, only 5 more months til Christmas! Seems crazy how fast this year has flown by. Today is the day I officially start shopping for Christmas gifts. haha! I like spending Christmastime with the family instead of hunting for last minute gifts so I usually try to get shopping done by December 1st with maybe a few little things left to pick up. Anyone else early shoppers?

I actually got started a little early this year as I already have gifts put back. Tomorrow is also the big Target 70% off toy sale so I'll be hitting that one up as well. You can never have enough cheap toys around especially when you have a kid(s) or lots of nieces. There is always a birthday or holiday to stock up for. It makes it pretty easy for me though. I have all girls to buy for except my step nephew but he is in that preteen age that I just never know what to buy anyways. haha

So although I'm not quite ready for Christmas, though I could take a little fall weather around here (not winter yet though), I thought I would post some of my fave Christmas pinspiration. It may be 5 months away but it's never to early to start planning DIY projects.

How easy are these wire trees. Just wrap the wire around the foam shape and tada tree form.

Did any of you make these paper chain countdowns til Christmas when you were little? It was a tradition in our house and I want to make it a tradition with my daughter as well. I love how this one is a little different though. We usually just made ours long and strung it around wherever we could find a spot in the house.

This "The stockings were hung" sign is great. We don't have a fireplace in our rental here, which I hate considering we've always had a fireplace in the past. I had to buy a heater/fake fireplace just because I missed the ambiance (no lie). This would be cute hanging above it.

Source: etsy.com via Melissa on Pinterest

This is a fun idea for kids. Can you imagine waking up to that Christmas morning. It would definitely wake you up. haha

These are fun decoration ideas too. I would recommend shatterproof ornaments though.

Feel free to follow me over on Pinterest here. I have a lot of great Christmas ideas pinned but loads of other fun things as well. I kind of got a pinning problem! haha

Tip Tuesday: Beauty Edition: Beautiful Brows

Have you ever seen those pictures where it shows what some celebrities looked like without eyebrows? It really shows you how much we NEED eyebrows. We would all look super silly without them.

Not only that but our eyebrows do have a purpose and a function. They are designed to keep dirt, sweat, and foreign objects out of our eyes. They also help us with things like, you know, emotions.

To be honest though, the majority of us probably don't even give our eyebrows a second thought until they have gotten unruly and messy looking.

Here are just a few quick tips to keeping them under control and looking beautiful. :)

  • To help with tweezing dab a cotton ball with warm water or cream to soften the skin.

  • Tweeze in the direction your hair grows.

  • For unruly eyebrow hairs, spray a eyebrow brush with some hairspray to hold brows in place.

  • Comb your eyebrow hairs upwards and outwards for a natural eyebrow look. This will also give you the wide eyed look.

Do you have any eyebrow tips of your own?

NOTE: Keep an eye out as later today the 2nd giveaway winner will be announced. :)

Monday Munchies: Healthy Snack Ideas

It has been a minute since I've had a Monday Munchies but I thought I would do a quick one related to healthy snacking.

In just over 60 days I will turn 30 and although I may or may not get to my "goal" weight I've set for myself, I do want to get back on track of eating healthy foods and exercising regularly. I fell off the bandwagon after we moved out here to Kansas. We've been out here a year so it's far past time. I tend to let our moves get my body out of sync. The last time I fell off the wagon was when we moved prior to this time. Ugh! Moving in the future is inevitable for us so I also need to figure out how to control that.

When you are trying to lose weight one of the best things you can do is eat small portions at least 6 times a day, not just 3 meals a day. So healthy snack options are a must.

Here are a few things I love to snack on and that are pretty healthy too.

Almonds

Cheddar Snacks

Popcorn

String Cheese

Fruit

Veggies

Low Fat Yogurt

Applesauce

Skinny Cow Ice Cream

Low Cal Crackers w/ hummus

These are just some of the ideas I like to snack on but there are all kinds of healthy snacks out there that taste good and even better than chips, cookies, and cakes. I know when I'm standing in a grocery store trying to think of something good to snack on for the next week sometimes my brain turns to mush. It doesn't help that my 4 year old is usually running around trying to throw random stuff in the cart. haha! Hopefully these ideas can give you some healthy snack options for you.

What are some of your fave healthy snacks?
